 A Request for all :
September 11, 2002 is soon approaching. On that day, please wear red, white and blue to work or school to show your support for those who lost their lives on 9~11~01 and to honor the heroes who worked to save them and the families left behind. At noon your time on September 11,2002, no matter where you are or what you are doing, stop, put your hand on your heart, and say the Pledge of Allegiance out loud or to yourself and say a prayer for our nation.

If all of us do this together in every time zone around the world, we will have a powerful chain of thoughts surrounding us.
**************
The International Association of Fire Chiefs is also organizing a nation wide memorial service, where every Fire Dept. across the national will lower the flag to half mast at 9:30 am. and at 10:05 will sound their
station bell and again at 10:25 am. EST. You should be able to find this information by searching IAFC.

"God Bless America, and all other countries, who have lost loved ones as a result of terrorism."

Greetings!!  This column has been created to introduce you to the world of "aromatherapy".  Its based on an ancient principal that one's body, mind and spirit should be in balance to achieve perfect harmony.
The sense of smell is one of our least developed senses, yet, it produces many of our responses such as anger, comfort, fear, relaxation even hunger.  It can bring back memories long forgotten and mark new ones for the future.  Smells can even influence your attitudes and decisions either in a positive or negative way.
There are so many ways to utilize aromatherapy into our everyday lives.  I plan to provide you with some ideas and give you a few basic tools.  My objectives are to assist you in achieving a more positive attitude, tips for stress relief,  ideas on how to create a warm comfy home environment and,
most importantly, to show you the benefits of being good to yourself.  Keep in mind that since all of us are different, each of us will react to smells differently.  What may benefit me, may not necessarily benefit you, so allow your nose and creativity to flow in selecting just the right fragrances.
Essential oils can be used in a number of ways and alone or combines with
other oils.  These oils are highly fragrant, non-oily plant essences which
are volatile and will evaporate easily.  Store them in a cool dark area in a
dark colored bottle.  They are insoluble in water but dissolve easily in
vegetable oils, wax and alcohol.  Before using any essential oils, find out
the contra-dications.     There are a few safety precautions you should be familiar with when using essential oils and I have listed them on a separate pate.  Please read
through them carefully and if you have any questions or concerns talk to your
physician beforehand.

Ylang -Ylang

Today, our very first aromatherapy article, we are going to discuss ylang-ylang (pronounced eelang-eelang) which means "the flower of flowers".  Its perfume has been valued for thousands of years throughout Southeast Asia where it is grown in the Philippines, Madagascar and Java.  The fragrance is exotic, sensual and richly sweet.
Ylang-ylang has a calming, uplifting effect and is considered to be a very spiritual oil.  It is excellent for skin care and aides in a peaceful sleep.  It also is beneficial for instilling confidence, encouraging expression and as an aide for depression.
There are many ways to use ylang-ylang such as in a bath, or for a relaxing or luxurious massage, and vaporization.  Below are just a few suggestions.  All you have to do is take a deep smell of this erotic oil, and you are on your way.

Until next month remember to be good to yourselves.

Blessings always
Lady Indigofae

Princess_Amethyst.jpg (419460 bytes)  Butterfly Garden
This month we are going to talk about growing a butterfly garden.  To us
faeries, butterflies are an entertaining vision of pure enjoyment when
watching them flutter and flitter about in their rainbow colored costumes.
They are among the most beautiful insects on the face of this earth and each year as progress continues, the number of butterflies dwindle.  According to the Native American Legend  "To make a wish come true, whisper it to a butterfly.  Upon these  wings it will be taken to heaven and granted.  For they are the messengers of the Great Spirit".  Mystic wisdom faeries share with the Indians and I hope that I can pass on to you.

In this article, I will go over with the you the basic  information necessary to grow your own little showplace.  I will give you a list of plants, flowers, bushes, go over their drinking necessities and even talk about habitats for those of you who really want to get serious.  These gardens can be placed in a large space or in small areas such as containers.
The list goes on as far as your imagination.  So let us begin!   These gardens must be planted in the sun as butterflies are cold blooded creatures and need to warm their wings.  Try and do this in area that has some wind blockage and add rocks to your garden for butterflies to sunbathe on.
Include a good mixture of host and nectar plants.  The nectar plants will attract many butterflies who will drink from the blossoms.  Nectar is their energy source needed for flying.  They also prefer the plants to be in groups of the same color versus having single plants of several colors.  Select different type of plants to be assured of blossoming  throughout their season.  They do prefer the colors of pink, purple and white and single flowered plants.

The host plants attract the female butterflies for laying their eggs on the leaves, giving the newly caterpillar a ready source of food.  The growth cycle of the butterfly from egg to caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly takes 2 weeks to 6 months depending on the species.  Without the proper host plants,  the caterpillar will die from starvation.  Butterflies also require a  water source.  They puddle (suck) their water through the mud or wet sand.  By doing this,  it satisfies their need for water along with giving them their minerals and salts embedded in the earth.

Try and provide them a muddy spot around your garden to insure their stay.  Since they are cold blooded,  butterflies must have shelter from the weather for their protection.  The shelter can be as simple as an undisturbed wood pile or a purchased butterfly  house.  Butterfly houses can make a lovely addition to your garden.  They are designed to keep the butterflies out of the wind and rain with no access for birds to homestead.  Check with your local nurseries, the internet or books for the types of butterflies in your area.  I promise you a colorful world that will thrill your children and entertain you for hours.

Blessings to all

9/11  in Retrospect

I was in choir class when the announcement came across the loud speaker, we never heard an announcement, the class is too loud.  So by the end of the class not one of us knew what had happened, leaving class we walked down halls hearing others talk about the horror, but still only grasping bits and pieces.  Next class was P.E. no help there.  I heard something about bombs and asked only to be told it was airplanes, but no details.  Kids can be so rude at our age.  If you ask questions they look at you like you're the stupidest kid in school so not wanting to earn that title I kept quiet and totally confused.

It wasn't until I came home that mom explained to me what had happened, we watched the reruns of the attacks on   TV.....a rerun they would show way too many times the  next few days.  Horror gripped my throat as I tried to swallow.  Even the normally stoic announcers were wiping away tears.   We listened to the news   reporters and the interviews and grieved for the losses of so many. When dad came home which was earlier than normal we just hugged together, thankful we could be together.

The next day, teachers talked to us about the happenings, explained things more in detail, had us write our thoughts and discuss are fears.

Now one year later, I celebrate my birthday  on the 14th of September, as I celebrated last year, only it was a somber celebration, this year I plan to make it a better one, yet we  will all remember and know that day a year ago, 9/11 2001 changed our lives forever.  We put a flag up, and there's one on the car window.  My book covers are flags, I got tons of patriotic tee shirts and flag pins.  I know I personally have a different feeling about the police, firemen and military.  I think I just took them for granted before, now I feel a kind of honor being around them, even wanting to shake their hands and tell them how much I appreciate them.  At the airport this summer we stopped and gave respect for some firefighters walking past.......we weren't the only ones either.

There have been many tears, yet through the tears America has shown it's strength and just as I, so many others are PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN.   GOD BLESS.

-Donny

FAERIE STORY from a cyber friend: ggsfarm@msn.com  (Gail)

I like so many others have a true store but unlike the others I have only  seen wing with my third eye.  We have recently discovered that by using a digital camera we could capture earth spirits (fairies) on film in the form of orbs.  The orbs are plentiful and colorful.  We have them in trees and dancing in our pastures.  My daughter seems to have a few that stay with her.  I must also have some with because every picture taken at my work place that has me in it also has orbs  and pictures taken just before I entered are without the orbs.  After discovering the orbs and meditating under a tree that night they came to me in my sleep.  If I were an artist I could draw each one of there faces, I could tell you what color eyes they had and what their hair looked like.  I also was told by them that my camera was scaring them.  I have respected them and no longer take nightly pictures.  I didn't know that there were spells or chants that would assist me in seeing them. Nor did I know that there were gifts that I could leave for them.  Thanks to you're site I now Know this and I am looking forward to using them.  I will be more than happy to email you again after trying them. [I also took a digital picture of Donny and faerie orbs appeared, Marafae]

Hugs, Marafae
