Did you know that The Woodstock Music Festival began at Max Yasgur's dairy farm in New York on Friday, August 15th in 1969. It was billed as "Three Days of Peace and Music," and the promoters were hoping for a crowd of 150,000 for a celebration of a communal spirit and to hear some of the most popular rock acts of the day. Nearly half a million young people arrived for the 3-day music festival. |

A MIDSUMER NIGHT'S FAERY TALE
by Wendy Froud and Terri Windling
This is the first in a series of enchanting
stories by Wendy Froud, puppet maker and wife of Brian Froud, and
author Terri Windling. The story revolves around a young faery named
Sneezle and takes place in the magical Old Oak Wood. On midsummer
eve a plan to overthrow the queen Titania must be thwarted, and it
is up to humble sneezle to save the faery kingdom. His adventure
takes him through the deepest parts of the wood, where he encounters
a number of faeries, both good and bad, and a number of other
characters. Magic is woven throughout the pages, and the stroy
concludes on the greatest faery day of all, midsummers eve, with all
its mystery and enchantment. This is a story of good outwitting bad,
and even the humblest of faeries can be heroes! The puppetry of
Wendy Froud brings the story to life-her artistry is outstanding,
and Terri Windlings descriptive words weave a magical tale not to be
forgotten. Thank heavens sneezle continues his adventures, in two
more enchanting stories, to be reviewed in the upcoming months. The
pictures alone could sell the book, but the tale as well could stand
on its own. 100 stars!!!
until next month, cerridwen
