ABOUT TEENS

While surfing the Internet I came across a great site, it's a Teen magazine online. It's called "About Teens" and several categories such as "Jokes & Humor", "Funny Photos", "Short Stories", "Books", "Teen Health" and several others including a place you can give opinions and questions. I found this site to be a great source of fun and help. So check it out at: http://www.aboutteens.org/main.htm

Here's a joke from the site: A man escaped jail by digging a hole from his jail cell to
the outside world. He emerged in the middle of a preschool playground. "I'm free, I'm free!"  he shouted. "So what," said a little girl. "I'm four."

Also, their book reviews are pretty good, helps you pick a good one to read! Check it out!

  THE WINTER CHILD

by Wendy Froud and Terri Windling

As promised, this month we return to The Old Oak Wood, to another adventure with Sneezle, our famed hero, and his friend Twig. This time to celebrate The Midwinter Festival, with Sneezle at the center of activity. The Wood and the festival are threatened-the seasons have not passed-time seems stuck in autumn, alas how can the festival proceed? It is up to Sneezle and Twig to find out why the seasons have not changed, and up to them to set things right. This takes them through the darkest parts of the wood, encounters with good and bad faeries, sorcerers, trolls, even a magician and of course a couple of spells.
Once again the story surpasses expectations, and the puppetry could sell the book alone. (I'd actually like to know if her puppets ARE for sale!!!) The pictures are beautifully done, and the story is full of magic and hope, and of course a moral at the end.
Will Sneezle save the Wood? I recommend you all find out!!
Until next month

blessings,  cerridwen

Mystic Rowen Fae, talks to you about the Faerie Oracle Cards:
THE FAERIES ORACLE by Brian Froud. It is called a divination deck;  a way of communicating with and learning from the faeries. The deck consists of 65 cards and each one provides a message from the fae in response to a question you have asked or if you are trying to discover more about yourself, your life, and your relationships. A card may turn up reversed in a reading, which may indicate a  blockage or delay in the message to be received. A reading can be a simple one card spread or a series of cards. the book that comes with the deck explains all this.

This month we review card #6  THE SINGER OF CONNECTION

This card represents the connection between all things. It brings wholeness and unites all, including the past, present and future. Without this connection we feel isolated. To keep the connections open we must remain open-to love, compassion, trust. Emotions that close the connections are fear, jealousy, anger. Centering is a good way to keep yourself open and grounded, and meditation is an excellent way to do this.
In a reading this card tells us to be aware of the connecting issues in the situation, including the connections between all involved. it may also say we need to form more connections. It states the connections we have are strong.
REVERSED indicates you need to center, or earth yourself. You must focus on why the connections are not present and what you can do to make connections, so your path will flow.

Until next month, journey safely!!

Faerie Legends

Did you know that the "Wee Folk" or our "Good Neighbors" don't like to be called
"Faeries"? "Fairy" has been mis-used throughout history by the English speaking
human folk. It is believed that the word "fairy" is a late term, being that after the
middle ages was equated with the meaning of mortal women who had magical
powers. The French "fai" comes the Latin "fatae" meaning "fairy ladies who
visited the household at birth and pronounced the future of the baby, as the Three
Fates do." "Fairy" originally meant "fai-erie" - as "state of enchantment and that
was transferred from the object to the agent." The faerie are a "wee people" who
carry great power and prestige, particularly in the Celtic and Irish lands. Of Irish
descent, faeries are the descendants of the original Irish, the Tuatha de Danaan.

Myrea Pettit
Fascinated from her earliest memories of the world of fairies, of wondrous stories of my childhood, she tended not to over read books but be enchanted by the wonderful illustrations of Margaret Tarrant, Cicely Mary Barker, Rene Cloke and Arthur Rackham.

She spent so many of our childhood hours when not doing our schoolwork, and every weekend, drawing and painting or colouring.

Born in 1970, her interests centre around classical music, conservation of the environment and wildlife.

She travels extensively throughout Europe in her quest to search for the hideaways of the little people and their friends.

My fairy drawings are my own inspiration, either created for poetry or storybooks or to inspire the imagination of children and adults. Subjects chosen have been selected to be used in magazines, on limited edition plates and fine china, place-mats, wall paper and other decorative products.

Not one winner, not one submission.....bummer guys!

Want to try again?  Send me a picture you have drawn, of a faerie at school. I've a grand prize and two more for second and third place, so send me the drawing! No longer available

Note From Marafae.......

School's upon us here in Texas, as well as a heat wave!  Yesterday, the east coast suffered a power outage, I know they are also suffering a heat wave so I can imagine they were cooking without fans or air conditioning, Not to mention all those stranded in subways and highways and elevators.

We who didn't have such a mess hit us are fortunate.  Do you thank your higher power for the good times? Huh..maybe you should!

Hugs, Marafae
