Retired, Dr. Wil Huygen, who co-wrote the book Gnomes and Secret of the Gnomes with Rien Poortvliet celebrated his 79th birthday on June 23 if you want to send him a belated birthday card check out the Gnome Bulletin Board for his address. I did send him a card and signed it from the members of the WWGA.July Craft: Painting on Gourds a craft by new member G110, Einnob from Indiana.
These two banana gourds were done for my neighbor gnome member G111, Featherflur's Birthday. I transfered an outline to the gourd, woodburned the lines and colored in with oil color pencils (made by Walnut Hollow), and spray sealed them with Crystal Clear Matt by Krylon. If you would like to have the pattern or have any questions please leave a message for Einnob on the bulletin board. If you have any gnome crafts that you would like featured here in our monthly craft section please send me an email and include a picture of your work. "222" Hollow Stump Road - Gramps... Gramps was one of Layke's pioneer settlers, arriving by the River when he was only 85 year old. That was well over 300 years ago. Even though Gramps is moving into his golden years, he still works
vry hard as is evidenced In the meantime he must supervise the building addition which is needed because his twin brother, Grumps, is moving in with the family and since Great Uncle Grumps is so cantankerous, everyone wanted him to have his own room. Gramps' wife, Nana, protested but Uncle Grumps moved in anyway. In-laws do things like that. Because I have this mold I was able to remodel Gramps while he was still in the wet clay stage. I created Gramps with tiny angel wings. He rests on top of my monitor acting as a guardian.
When I finally found a picture of a Ptooey Gnome I could not believe what it looked like...much rather have Gramps sitting up there! ![]() Current Cost is $6.25 each plus a shipping charge. Thanks to member G110 Einnob for this tip! shop@zebs.com Einnob wrote: Did you know that in 1993 there was a company that manufactured a gnome cookie cutter, the only one I ever found, it is in the shape of a male gnome. The name of the company Bark & Bradley Inc., RR1, Box 1420, Gilmanton Iron Works, New Hampshire 03837. The Purple Puma Cookie Company. The cutter came attached to a card with a packet of spices and a cookie and icing recipe and on the back a short gnome story. New Member Gnome Story in the works ... check out the Gnome Bulletin board where new member G112, Dolomiti has started a jump-in story similar to the one that is on the Fae site, "On the Way to Boubliwae". New Gnome Sightings Map ... Dolomiti is also working on creating the new gnome sightings map. Do provide him with assistance by informing him where you have sighted gnomes! Catch a Gnome Bag! Gnomes are utterly practical. When it's time to get grounded and you need help doing so,
call upon a gnome friend. I think this is a great craft idea!
Now what is in it? I have one and I can see a button, a penny and lots of tiny rocks, a wee clothes peg and a shiny marble all packed up in an irridescent copper see through bag and tied with a matching ribbon. I received an email from this creator. What an imaginative idea! Keep one around the house for when children come to visit. If you want to order one of these originals here is the link: https://www.balsamicmoon.com/store/p516.html Cost: $14.00 (including shipping).BOOK REVIEW - Pookins Gets Her Way While visiting one of our local children's library I asked the librarian to search her computer for a gnome story. They can search by title, author or a key word search. She came up with a book titled, Pookins Gets Her Way written by Helen Lester and illustrated by Lynn Munsinger in 1987. (ISBN 0-395-53965-X or 0-395-42636-7) This is a 32 page book
suitable for the younger children. Pookins is a small girl who always gets her way. When
she doesn't, she throws tantrums - and apples. When she meets a gnome, she demands three
wishes. But then she discovers that getting everything you want isn't always a formula for
happiness. Kids will recognize bits of themselves in Pookins..an amusing, hard edged
heroine. What's New? Check out the new Gnomy gnomes http://www.giftcraft.comThanks to member Grace Busteed for this link. |
