"222" Hollow Stump Road - Nana & Pudge...

Nana is a jolly woman and she has enjoyed taking care of her family since her marriage to Gramps 203 years ago. Nana cooks for the family, which is almost a full-time job. Her reputation as a cook is wide spread - her specialty being strudel and hearth baked wheat bread. Nana samples a lot of her own wares. Nanna also is known for her "Dandelion Punch"for which Gramps has a real fondness.

Anyone fallen ill is nursed back to health by Nana since she understands herbs and potions. The Grandchildren love Nana and granddaughter, Pudge, has been helping Nana by washing the cooking utensils in the river so that Nana has more time to bake chocolate chip cookies. Nana is the rock and the anchor.

At 89 years, Pudge is a teen-ager of sorts. She dreams of someday being a cheerleader but since cheerleaders are tall and thin and Pudge is the opposite, Pudge has been doing aerobics and is watching her weight. She is on a diet and only eats chocolate chip cookies and yoghurt.

Pudge wants to look like the beautiful and enchanting sorceress, Mergaine, the King's sister, but she know that this is impossible.

Grandmother Nana is Pudge's best friend and Pudge often confides in her. Nana counsels  Pudge that she is kind, gentle and loving and that she should focus on those good qualities and not envy Mergain's beauty and magical powers. Nana also reminds Pudge that she does have a red hat which is the only vanity that gnomes are allowed.

Book Review - Fang the Gnome
Author: Michael Greatrex Coney, Illustrator: Tim Hildebrandt.
The issue that I just finished reading was 345 pages and is noted as being an Arthurian Fantasy. I did not think I would enjoy this book, (something about the title) but found it to be very entertaining. The writer's ideas about merging ages is delightful! The gnome characters are unique and I believe anyone who likes gnomes will enjoy this story.

Beware of toxic painted gnomes in your homes!

A Verse from Gnome Life written by Will Huygen
AUGUST

August is the harvest time,
crops are ripe and in their prime.

Using every scrap of light,
farmers work till late at night.

As the summer takes its leave,
every gnome will now retrieve

all the fruits he can obtain
for the cold times once again.
