Christmas Napkins:  The American Swedish Institute has holiday napkins of a Gnome with a bird.  They're Item M 4021 -- $4.95 for a package of 20 and only $4.95.  They're called "Tomte with Bird" (as a Gnome in Swedish is a "Tomte"). They have a Website www.americanswedishinst.org

2002 Gnome Calendars - I corresponded with Corny from the Bake & Brew. They usually get gnome calendars for us. Unfortunately he is not going to do so any more. If anyone out there knows of another supplier please let us know by posting it on the bulletin board. I can also include it in our next newsletter.

Gnome Fun for Young Adults - The following is a response received about the Montreal Newspaper feature that was posted on the Gnome Bulletin Board:

I'm responding to your e-mail dated October 3, 2000 for information on an upcoming topic, Gnomes, in one of our weekly youth pages - Kid Scoop.

Kid Scoop, is a new page aimed at young readers. Each page is built around a fun, new topic and is filled with intriguing facts and innovative puzzles. Challenging activities also launch kids to other parts of the newspaper. The page even includes a weekly writing corner, where selected students' writing
on that week's topic are printed.

The Gnomes page will be published on November 5th. The writing prompt for that page asked kids to create a classified ad for a gnome. The deadline for the written submissions was October 19.

I hope this information helps. It is wonderful to see that an association such as yours exists!

I have requested a copy of the feature so that it can be put in a future newsletter. Thanks to Canadian gnome member Pitchounet G60 from St. Etienne, Quebec for this lead.

Christmas Craft - Create your own Christmas Cards.
In light of the recent world happenings I would like to suggest that you create your own electronic Christmas Cards that people can print off! This way, you can personalize each one, add special gnome pictures or photos of family members. For those who do not own scanners you can have photographs made into electronic files at most local film processing places. Stumped for sayings? Just check out local card shops or pull out last year's cards for inspiration. This year I plan to promote Peace and Harmony!

Book Review:  Huff and Puff and the Troll Hole

The book is from The Gnomes Of Pepper Tree Forest

This wonderful story was written in 1934,by Don Arthur Torgersen.
It is illustrated by Tom Dunnington.
Copyright is 1982, Regensteiner Publishing Enterprises Inc.

Two mischievous gnomes try to outwit the three trolls who hold them captive.

The colors are bright and the story is fun.

Size is 8 x 9 1/2 inches.

A lovely November poem from the book Gnome Life by Wil Huygen

In the vast and lonely woods
gnomes prepare their winter goods:

clothing, food, and snow proof boots.

Nature is now crisp and fair,
watch that forest over there -

just before they're turning bare,

trees display a colored scene,
yellow, red, and brownish-green,
worthy for a fairy queen.
