Jan Brett's beloved character Hedgie stars in this charming story about a little Tomten who gets tired of porridge for breakfast and starts stealing Henny's eggs. Henny doesn't know what to do. Every morning the Tomten steals her egg and takes it home to cook in his kettle and gobble up for breakfast. But when she sees Goosey-Goosey sailing by with a gaggle of goslings, Henny is suddenly galvanized to do something. Will she never have chicks of her own? She consults her wise friend Hedgie the Hedgehog, who comes up with a clever plan guaranteed to give the Tomten a sharp lesson in appropriate behavior. He substitutes an assortment of round objects for Tomten to steal (an acorn, a strawberry, a mushroom, a potato) and then finally rolls himself up in a prickly, pinchy ball that sends the Tomten away for good. He runs home for porridge and never comes back again! Jan Brett's trademark illustrations, detailed watercolors bordered by intricate needlepoint patterns, capture the charm and mischief of this Scandinavian-style folk tale set in Denmark. Each wide woven margin shows a hint in miniature of upcoming events: Hedgie crawling under Henny's brooding basket, or the enraged Tomten after being outwitted. If you hear of a new book let us
know.
Greetings!
...My name is Professor Stone E. Mountain,
but please call me Professor SEM.
Many of you have asked questions about the energy found in Crystals and Gemstones so this time I'm going to read a bit from the "Secret Book of Life" hoping to help you understand a little more.
"The energies from crystals and gemstones react from
our aura of energy, amplifying our energy to produce quicker
manifestations. To learn to use crystals is fairly easy as long as you
have patience and an open mind.
If you've never felt the energy of a crystal, try these simple exercises with several stones, if you relax and experiment with different stones, results will follow. Hold a crystal in your hand until the body heat warms it, relax and you will feel a tingle from the crystal. Warm the crystal and place it on your third eye chakra (a very sensitive area). Its very common to feel a slight pressure or even a slight pain, don't worry about it, its just your body's attempt to get used to the energy. Crystals and gems can be used in many ways. They can be placed throughout the home, on your headboard of your bed, worn on the body in jewelry or in a medicine bag, an they can be used in tools. Crystals absorb negative energy, which is good, it keeps the negative away from us. However, it can fill up and then it is of no use to us at all. Take care of your crystals! Once a month, soak them in sea salt or rock salt water and leave over night in moon light (full moon lite is even better). This will remove the negative energy and bring them back to the highest energy they radiate, therefore being of great use to you. The Gnomes make it a ritual to do this chore on the night of the full moon. Doing it together we never forget. It's amazing all the energy we feel the very next day. Hope you'd remember to do this as well, maybe do it with a friend." I hope you now have a better understanding about your stones be it crystal, gems or just stone, they all have energy, some more, some less. Until next month may you always walk down the path
luck.
From Professor Konsh's Class - Our New Children's Corner!
I was invited by QueenGnome to participate in the Children´s Corner. It is a great pleasure and I feel honored. I have devoted my life to work with gnome children and now, the opportunity of sharing with human children what I have learned makes me feel happy to the core. I deeply believe in the " child within " that everyone has, gnomes and humans, and this CHILD should never be lost, forgotten or put away.

| Feature Artist -
Member: Daisy the Garden Gnome G164
Daisy is a writer and publications designer, and heavily into soft block printmaking/eraser carving and other crafts. She is self taught and has been doing art for as long as she can remember. Some of Daisy's work has been published in "Somerset Studio" and "Rubberstampmadness" magazines. Daisy is currently a stay-at-home mom, watching out for four sons, three of whom are teenagers. Her art studio is conveniently located near the family recreation room so she can keep an eye on them! Her dog, (also called Daisy), is her constant companion as she makes art. Daisy's husband Dave is supportive of her crafts, and builds all sorts of cabinets and shelves and handy storage things for her. Daisy loves animals, reading, computers, and movies. She has loved gnomes ever since her mom gave her Rien Poortvliet and Wil Huygen's first gnome book back in 1979. Daisy collects all sorts of gnomes, with emphasis on Tom Clark's gnome sculptures. GNOME STONES BAG: a small kit with cross-stitch chart,
instructions, and a wee bottle (crafters would have to purchase the
canvas, floss, and fabric.) MINIATURE GNOME BOOKS: custom hand made, miniature books with
pictures stamped by hand and cloth covers. The fabric cover choices blue,
green, or mustard. GNOME FINGER PUPPET: Daisy is currently working on a little book
of crafts, appropriately called, "Little Gnome Crafts". All the projects
are small-scale and gnome-related in some way. The gnome finger puppet
will be part of this booklet. There will be 10 projects in the book,
complete with patterns. Daisy hopes to have the booklet available by late
summer. RUBBER STAMPS: Daisy makes rubber stamps and has a small how to
book that she uses in classes to teach about carving. She carves them from
smooth erasers and eraser-like material. She has been carving for over six
years! She says it is very easy, relaxing and so enjoyable. It is also a
way to get rubber stamps of images that are not commercially available
(like gnomes). To order email Daisy the Gnome G164 |
