Happy Birthday October Gnome Members!!
Now for our lesson in Astrology, I
present Madam Gemini and her companion Poo
Poo consults Madam Gemini, whom she
calls GiGi
Madam GiGi and Poo discuss
Scorpio
Poo:
GiGi, I know gnomes are a peaceful folk, but what can your cards
tell us about gnomes who are ardent crusaders, bold adventurers, or
fearless fighters? Sometimes I hear stories about gnomes who take
risks which would appall many other gnomes.
GiGi:
Many centuries ago, gnomes born between October 23 and November 21,
who are ruled by the planet Mars, often took up these professions.
Through the ages they have evolved into great outdoor nature lovers
in charge of living creatures. They are sharp and quick to attack
when they feel that they need to protect. They seem to possess more
self-control when action is needed than any other gnome. Because of
these traits, gnomes born
at this time adore the color
red and usually have exceptionally large and often unusual red caps.
Poo:
Wow, GiGi, that is very interesting! What con-stel-la-tion, you know
star group, would these gnomes be born under?
GiGi:
Ah... Poo, theirs is the sign of Scorpio: The Scorpion.
Poo:
Oh my! They sure can be dangerous when provoked or threatened.
GiGi: This
is true Poo, but they are also very loyal and lively protectors. Let
my cards tell you about two very famous
gnomes born under the sign
of Scorpio...

The Mushmen - written by Solveig Paulson Russell,
illustrated by Imero Gobbato
and published by Dodd, Mead & Company,
New York. This is a 7 x 8-1/2 inch,
95 page, hard cover book with many
black and white drawings. It is a story about
5 colorful gnomes who
come up from the underground to have an adventure.
The story is
totally different from most gnome stories and I thoroughly enjoyed
reading it.
The youngest of the 5 gnomes is called Sush Mush, who
befriends a cat that ends up
rescuing him. The book was
copyrighted in 1968 and published in the United States.
It does not have an ISBN
number however is noted as being Library of Congress

Crystals and Gems
This month the two stones that I would like to
introduce to you are, Topaz and Jade. Both stones are absolutely
beautiful to the eyesight. The topaz comes in various colors, however,
this article will mainly discuss the golden topaz, or as in the ancient
culture of Egyptians, ?The Sun King?.

The first bulletin company went under.....the second, the one you've been seeing had tons of pop-ups and it was a pain...so Darren aka Rainshadow made us one using frontpage extensions.......and now we have a lovely new one without pop-ups. AND we can import pictures and write in color and Bold the type...But some has to be done using HTML (the fancy stuff) there is a FAQ which is a HELP on how to do the fancy stuff, so if you feel adventurous, go for it.... ALSO!!! You know how you always have to put your email and info each time you submit or reply........well guess what, this bulletin requires you to log in, so at the beginning you'll use your club name, and choose your own password and then enter info like email, URL even ICQ#, anything you'd want other members to know, because it will be your profile. After that you only need to log in and you can submit or reply and all that will be added automatically without you having to rewrite it each time.......isn't that cool!! So enjoy the NEWEST BULLETIN.....hugs Marafae

Healthy Gnomes - The Wisdom of Getting Older Gnomes look forward to every day of their lives. They always think positive, and it is believed that this contributes to their long lives. Negative thoughts tend to cause stress, which of course will age gnomes beyond their years. So, gnomes are taught at a very young age, in fact before they leave home, to always turn negative thoughts into positive ones. Instead of saying, "I just cannot do this." a gnome would look upon it as a challenge and say, "Now, how can I do this?". Tip: Ensure longer lives for your gnomes by setting an example, think positive!
Conchita aka Konsh#173 gnomofeliz@hotmail.com used a pattern and transfered it to a piece of cloth and then embroidered it. She plans to use it on a sweater. Below see how lovely it is. To enlarge, click on image.

I just received an old magazine entitled, Decorating & Craft Ideas (December 1980). In it there is an article entitled, 'Invite A Gnome For Christmas'. The article contains instructions on easy-to-make ornaments from scraps. Here is a summary of the introduction to the instructions on how to create five unique gnome items. For more info click here.
Acorns, Pine Cones and Fall Leaves
Here are some gnomely tips on
gathering, preparing and using acorns, pine cones and leaves for fall
crafts.
Painted Pumpkins
Your youngsters will love the colorful effect of this work of art. To make a leaf mobile, arrange a fresh leaf on a sheet of waxed paper; then add a sprinkling of crayon shavings. Place a second sheet of waxed paper on top of the crayon shavings; then place the sheets between layers of newspaper. Press the sheets together with an iron set on low heat. Remove the waxed paper sheets from the newspaper and let them cool. Next cut loosely around the leaf and punch a hole in the top of the cutout. Personalize each cutout and tie it to a leafless tree branch with a length of monofilament line. Suspend this mobile from the ceiling for a colorful fall display |
