Now for our lesson in Astrology, I present Madam
Gemini and her companion Poo
Poo consults Madam Gemini, whom she calls GiGi
Madam GiGi and Poo discuss Libra
Poo:
Good day GiGi, what are you looking at?
GiGi: I am reading my cards for a gnome
couple born under the sign of Libra. Both are ruled by their
hearts and not their minds. They are having difficulty making personal
decisions.
Poo: I
often have this problem too GiGi. What do your cards suggest?
GiGi: Well Poo, people born between
September 23 and October 22 should consider both what their
hearts tell them and what they minds reveal. They must balance both.
They are ruled by the Planet Venus which makes their balancing
difficult because as you know Poo, Venus is the Goddess of love and
therefore their hearts will prevail.
Poo:
What kind of items from nature would help gnomes born under this
sign?
GiGi: Energy stones such as opals or tourmalines will
enhance their decision making. Marigold and dahlia flowers will
certainly be sources of inspiration for them. Libra born gnomes love
the warmth of yellow and the serenity of blue so will often surround
themselves with these two colors. They will enjoy walking in the
woods under the warmth of the sun and also moonlight walks by the
light of the a full blue moon.
Poo:
You have just given me an idea ... off goes Poo....

into the history of the Panpipes ...
a favorite musical instrument of the Gnomes
The pipes associated in mythology, with the Greek god Pan, are the legendary ancestor of the organ. Greek shepherds played a similar instrument, called the panpipes of syrinx, made from strong reeds of different lengths bound together. The organ evolved from such a set of simple pipes with the addition of an air pressure source and a mechanical means of admitting or shutting off the wind as desired. Pan is the Greek God to whom Gnomes often called to help them out of life threatening situations. You can read more about how Pan helped the Gnomes in the companion books The Little Grey Men and The Little Grey Men Go Down the Bright Stream. Gnomes love music and their favorite musical instrument is the Panflute or Panpipes which they received from Pan. Whenever gnomes are about you can be sure Pan, Lord
of the wild and domestic animals, is watching out for them.
Pan is said to be a demigod in Greek mythology (The Romans
equated him with their Faunus.) created the panpipes from reeds. Pan
in pursuit of Syrix, a nymph who was changed into a reed to escape
him, fashioned his panpipes from several those reeds. Research shows that music has more immunity-boosting potential when people actively participate in it, rather than passively listen to it. In one study, people who kept the beat and sang along with a 30-minute music session had a greater increase in antibody concentrations compared to people who only listened to the music. This must be one of the reasons that gnomes live so long. So, if you're trying to protect your health with some stress-reducing tunes, take a tip from the gnomes, tap your foot and sing along!
On the first day of August the gnomes celebrated
National Gnome Children's Day and they had a wonderful time on
August 23 during their Gnome Bowling Championships. Thanks
to all those who left some marbles about for gnomes to use as
bowling balls and special thanks to those fae who joined in the
events.

Greetings!
...My name is Professor Stone E. Mountain, but please

"Opal" and the
"Tourmaline"
Greetings! Most of you know who I am, but for those of you that I
have not met yet, my name is Professor Stone E. Mountain, but call
me Professor Sem.
I am here to educate you on the rocks, crystals and gems of the earth. I have lived my whole life learning about these mysterious gems and now I have been given special permission to teach you right out of the gnomes "Secret Book of Life". I am so excited to be here so let us begin!! Normally, I have you close your eyes and we venture to the country where the particular subject we are discussing comes from. But today, I have a special treat for you. It has been decided that I will be doing two earthly treasures each month, therefore, we are going to stay in the classroom given me ample time to do both. I certainly hope this meets your approval as I am sure you will benefit by this new addition. Today, I am going to introduce you to the "Opal" and the "Tourmaline". So, let us begin with the "opal".
The Opal is a beautiful mysterious gem. The opal essence is a result of the 5 to 10% of water trapped inside the stone. Majority of the opals, now mined in the world, comes from the beautiful country of Australia. The Romans believed they discovered this stone, but untrue, untrue!! The story goes like this. Many many many years ago, lived a young male gnome and his twin sister. One day while playing they wondering far from home and before they realized it, they were in the deep, deep woods where it is always black, with never a glimpse of light. The little sister cried and cried, she was so scared The little brother, trying to be very brave, assured her he would get them home. However, he did have his doubts, but he loved his sister and didn't want her so frightened. After walking many hours they finally huddled together. Frightened, cold and now hungry. He was sure they were lost forever. Then the clouds formed above them, but not the usual gray clouds, illuminating iridescent clouds. Soon, something glowing was falling from the sky leaving what looked like a trail to follow. The little brother decided it must be sign and convinced his sister they should follow. They gathered themselves up and soon realized these markers were actually stones, brilliant shinning stones. Picking them up as they walked along, they soon were back with their loving parents, both arms filled with these magical gems and smiles on their faces. The opal is a strong stone. It aides in visualization, dreams, hopes and enhances the owners imagination. This stone also clarifies by amplifying and mirroring feelings and desires. It is strong enough to store one's emotions, burdens and thoughts. The opal also helps one to have less inhabitations and be more spontaneous. The fire opal has even been known to stimulate passion, control one's temper and aide in energy. It is indeed a stone of good fortune and one who owns an opal or more, is always considered to be of wealth. Now let us discuss the Tourmaline, another valuable stone to own. Tourmaline's name comes from the Sinhalese word "turmali," which means "mixed." And this gem certainly lives up to it's name as it has more more colors and combinations of colors than any other gemstone variety. There is a tourmaline that looks like almost any other gemstone known to all. It is mainly mined out of Brazil but also from Tanzania, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, also in California and Maine in the United States. In the state of Maine, their tourmaline produces beautiful sherbet colors and in California, the pink tourmaline is found. One particularly beautiful variety is chrome tourmaline, a rare type of tourmaline from Tanzania which occurs in a very rich green color caused by chromium, the same element which causes the green in emerald. This stone is a hardy durable stone that can be weathered through most conditions, with the exception of "steam". Since the stone is considered to enrich an artistic intuition and helps express every mood, it is no surprise that Gnome parents feel necessary in giving to their children a gift of tourmaline while still very young. They want their children to vision beyond what their eyes can see. Each color of the tourmaline has a different meaning. For example the green tourmaline aides in business success and soothes the nerves, the pink allows one an increase in their ability to love and the black tourmaline is a protection for those who deal with negativity. Now there is a watermelon tourmaline which balances emotions, ideal for relationships and balances one's metabolism and the tourmaline quartz breaks up existing habits and conditions standing in the way of spiritual and physic progress. So you can see why having more than one tourmaline is definitely a benefit. Now, my friends, it is time to close. My wish for you is of love, peace and harmony. Until next month. "TRY IT AND ENJOY IT"
In the past Newsletter you
learned something about our dear friends…….the TREES. This time
I would like to share with you the following…….
Do you want to exchange “ENERGY” with a tree ?
Sounds weird eh
? Well…….it is not so…….Trees are living beings full of
ENERGY; and even
I
INVITE YOU TO GO AND LOOK FOR A BIG HEALTHY TREE…….you might find it at home, on your street, at school,
at a park or in forest. When you have chosen a tree, stand in front
of it and introduce yourself…….Ask if you can share energies
with him. You will feel the answer in your ANATH
~(anath)~heart. Put your forehead and the palm of your hands
on the tree, touching it…….You may embrace it if you feel like
it. Close your eyes for a moment and FEEL…….feel the energy of
the tree…….let it get into your body through your forehead and
palms. Experience
the wonderful energy, the warmth this precious creature is giving
you, penetrating all your organs, specially your ANATH. Feel
strengthened, happy and full of LOVE. Stay like this for a few
moments….quiet …. silent...
You may also give the tree some of your energy by letting
your warmth and LOVE come out through your forehead and palms and
imagining how it penetrates the tree…….to the core. You may say
: “DEAR FRIEND, I GIVE YOU MY LOVE…….MAY IT NOURISH YOU AND
HELP YOU GROW HEALTHY AND BEAUTIFUL”…….or…….you may use
your own words.
When you think you have finished, thank your friend and give
it a BIG NICE SMILE.
NOW, YOU CAN MAKE A DRAWING OF THE TREE AND MAYBE PICK ONE OR TWO LEAVES. Put them in your Gnome Activity Book.
Click here for Professor Konsh's Special Game Below see a photograph of one of my students, Anai, exchanging energies with a tree, and a drawing of Japi the Gnome, with Tina, also exchanging energies with a tree. I thought it would help all to see both a picture and a drawing at the same time with the same theme. Japi is the Gnome of my short stories.....It is a nice way to introduce him to everyone. The first story about Japi's adventures is ready so I will include it in my next article, in October.

Professor Konsh:
9/11 in Retrospect I was in choir class when the announcement came across the loud speaker, we never heard an announcement, the class is too loud. So by the end of the class not one of us knew what had happened, leaving class we walked down halls hearing others talk about the horror, but still only grasping bits and pieces. Next class was P.E. no help there. I heard something about bombs and asked only to be told it was airplanes, but no details. Kids can be so rude at our age. If you ask questions they look at you like you're the stupidest kid in school so not wanting to earn that title I kept quiet and totally confused. It wasn't until I came home that mom explained to me
what had happened, we watched the reruns of the attacks on
TV.....a rerun they would show way too many times the next
few days. Horror gripped my throat as I tried to swallow. Even the normally stoic
announcers were wiping away tears. We listened to the news reporters and
the interviews and grieved for the losses of so many. When dad came home
which was earlier than normal we just hugged together, thankful we could
be together. The next day, teachers talked to us about the happenings, explained things more in detail, had us write our thoughts and discuss are fears. Now one year later, I celebrate my birthday on the 14th of September, as I celebrated last year, only it was a somber celebration, this year I plan to make it a better one, yet we will all remember and know that day a year ago, 9/11 2001 changed our lives forever. We put a flag up, and there's one on the car window. My book covers are flags, I got tons of patriotic tee shirts and flag pins. I know I personally have a different feeling about the police, firemen and military. I think I just took them for granted before, now I feel a kind of honor being around them, even wanting to shake their hands and tell them how much I appreciate them. At the airport this summer we stopped and gave respect for some firefighters walking past.......we weren't the only ones either. There have been many tears, yet through the tears America has shown it's strength and just as I, so many others are PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN. GOD BLESS.

Hello Everybody,
After an absence of
nearly three months (including the period just before
International Gnome Day unfortunately) the Belgian Gnome site,
'De Tuinkabouters Club' is working again. The direct link to
it is http://home.mine.be/~pennybag/club/ but
I have also put it in the Gnomesday Book at www.beryl-the-gnome.co.uk/gnomebook.htm
The site is in Dutch (Tuin = Garden, Kabouters = Gnomes) but it is
fairly easy to understand. Dikkie, the site's owner was one of the
most enthusiastic supporters of IGD initially so it's sad that he
missed Ithe big day. I know he will be pleased if anyone
cares to visit him.
I hope you are all
having a good summer (or winter if you're in Australia or NZ.)
Best wishes, Beryl

Hi,
I Love your site....... I am wondering if you can help me
locate Gnome T-Shirts??? Can't find them anywhere....I am in
the Los Angeles area, but cannot locate too many t-shirt shops
these days....especially ones that deal in gnomes, etc. Thought I
would turn to you...
Healthy Gnomes
It has often been written that gnomes have
rather large noses and tremendous sniffing abilities. They can
smell a foe long before it can be seen. In order to keep their
sinus healthy they regularly hum tunes. Humming helps air to
move through nasal cavities. TIP:
To keep your gnomes healthy, encourage them to hum by humming
tunes yourself!
I have now read all four volumes of the
adventures of Harry Potter and his companions. I enjoyed these
stories but was not impressed with their treatment of garden
gnomes! For Harry Potter fans there is a card game available
called, Gnome Toss.

I am the Gnome Enchantress of plant life.
![]() Blessed be!!..Once more, I am so delighted to be able to bring this world of of plants, herbs and flowers to you. As most of you already know, I am the Enchantress. My whole existence has been to study from the Gnome's "Secret Book of Life" and it gives me great pleasure to be able to bring this wondrous, exciting world to you. I was born into this world. My mother, her mother and all the mothers before them were also Enchantresses. This wisdom I am about to enlighten you with, has been passed down for many many generations and still is a respected part of our daily life. So without further daily, let us begin our lesson on "Scented Rose Geraniums" . First I want to make you aware a "scented geranium" is a pelargonium and not a "true geranium". Please make sure you have chosen a "pelargonium" species and if are unsure, I advise you to consult someone who is an expert in this field. Geraniums (if not the scented kind) is poisonous and inedible. ![]() I am partial to the scented rose geranium because this exquisite plant only thinks about love and bringing it into our homes. A time old, and still, respected tradition is one where on the day that a female gnome turns marrying age, her mother presents her a cutting from her special scented rose geranium. Now, we usually have several in our possession, but this one cutting will always be considered our most cherished and prized scented geranium. With this special rose scented geranium, we can make several different kinds of potpourri to attract and keep love growing in our homes. For example to bring love into your home, take your rose scented geranium and place 5 copper pennies on top of its soil. Keep this inside your home in a well lighted area and watch the love flow. There are several different types of scented geraniums but the rose and lemon geraniums seemed to be the most favorite in the kitchen. The leaves are commonly used in jellies, cakes, deserts, butters, sugars, vinegars and beverages. You can also toss the delicate flowers in your salads for a subtle flavor. Scented geraniums are a tender perennial that will wither as soon as the first frost appears. They are not particular about their soil as long as it has good drainage. They need full sun in the cooler climates, but prefer some shade in warm areas. Scented geraniums look beautiful in hanging baskets and in pots. Growing them in containers will allow you to be able to bring them indoors when the first frost appears and give you enjoyment during the winter. Pinching will encourage bushiness. One of the ways that I enjoy my scented geranium is to plant them along walkways, especially going into a garden. When your feet brushes against the leaves, a soft aromatic scent fills the air. I also plant them near my front door to bring a friendly "hello" to our relatives and friends who stop by for a visit. I propagate my scented geraniums by stem cuttings, however, some species can be started with seeds. On the following page, there are several ideas on how to use the scented geranium, but even if you don't wish to use it in any other way than perhaps your garden, you will still be delighted with its delicate beauty and aromas. Until next month, I wish you all many blessings

Crafty Corner
This is the time of year when gnomes search for scrap lumber and get out their hammers! Because it's time to build squirrel homes. Even apartment and house gnomes help by building boxes and hanging them in local forests. Boxes are used most heavily in the winter; therefore, they should be installed during the fall. Basic measurements 6x6x20 (inches of course!) with an entrance hole of at least 3 inches in diameter. New squirrel homes need to be hung so that the entrance hole faces south. Tops must be weatherproofed and bottoms must be vented! If you want a plan check out this link (brought to you by The Gnomes of Missouri in conjunction with the Missouri Department of Conservation): |

BIG BROTHER 3 on CBS I'm a regular watcher of Big Brother, however tonight I witnessed an atrocity. What at first looked to be a wonder turned out to be a horror. The people in the Big Brother house came outside in their back yard to discover Gnomes everywhere......they were instructed to find a Gnome that was their own and paint it......(so far it's fine). Later when they went inside to eat, someone took the Gnomes and hung them for a game ......the people then came out to discover they had to answer questions about each other, if wrong they had to cut one of three strings holding up the Gnome. Object was the break each others Gnomes until only one survived. During the game two didn't break so actually 3 survived. But the watching of their demise was devastating! Please join me in letting CBS know how we feel about this atrocity. Go to their site...... http://www.cbs.com/primetime/bigbrother3/# Then scroll to the bottom of the page and in small writing you'll see "feedback" click on it and tell them what you think. Greetings
to all gnome believers. This is a picture of Boubliwae Falls
where I live. My home is located on the banks of a small
brook that flows into the pool at the base of Boubliwae
Falls. Although the exact world location of this
mystical place is unknown to me, I would like to tell you more
about honest-to-goodness gnomes, like me, who adventure around
Boubliwae Falls. My name is Lil'Owl and I am one of the few true
descendants of the original gnomes who journeyed here
from far-off places.
I hope you enjoy reading the adventure stories being
told to you and welcome you to the tranquil world of
Boubliwae.
This is a place where you can listen, and hear sounds of
the forest such as the peaceful trickling of water over
mossy rocks, birds chirping and insects buzzing all communicating
their feelings. And, oh what smells like cedar, pine and earth fill
your nostrils. We gnomes have sizable ears and noses to
enjoy these gifts of nature and I must say, many special human
friends-of-gnomes are also gifted with these features. Sun
and moon beams make dew drops on flowers and cobwebs
glisten like diamonds, visible only to those who take the time to
visit our majestic forests. Why mortals continue to destroy
such beauty is a constant mystery to us gnomes.
My great, great grandfather, Sneezewort (Who never managed to grow
a beard even at the ripe old age of 400!) discovered
Boubliwae during his explorations with his two brothers
Dodder, the eldest who had a wooden leg and Baldmoney, who was the
family engineer. A very special human known as BB wrote two
wonderfully entertaining books about Dodder, Baldmoney,
Sneezewort and Cloudberry and their final adventures down the
Folly brook, on whose banks they had dwelled, in England and their
subsequent journey to Ireland.
Many do not believe in the Little People, but I know you do! When
reading stories about Boubliwae you must make yourself as wee
as possible (which can be extremely difficult), keep very
quiet (which is even more difficult for many) then watch and wait
by the Boubliwae Brook deep the forest. Listen
carefully, soon you will hear and understand the woodland
folk and forest dwellers, especially those who inhabit
Boubliwae.
Do you want to read more of Lil'Owl's Boubliwae adventure
stories? Keep in touch as they are soon to appear in the monthly
WWGA Newsletters.
If you want to write a Boubliwae adventure of your own post
it on the bulletin board.
If you want to read some previous Boubliwae stories follow the
link on the member log in page.
Respectfully yours, Lil'Owl
