We will miss you Lady Indigofae! Thanks for all the wonderful articles of enlightment!

Now for our lesson about the Gnome Tarot,
I present Madam Gemini and her companion Poo
Poo consults Madam Gemini, whom she calls GiGi Madam GiGi and Poo discuss Four Kings
GiGi & Poo

Poo: GiGi there are many cards in a Tarot deck. I want to learn more about them.
GiGi: Ok Poo. But, let's keep it simple. We will start with the four Kings.
Poo: Four Kings! Wow, that's just like a deck of ordinary playing cards.
GiGi: That's right Poo. There are the same 56 cards you find in decks of ordinary playing cards (which in a deck of Tarot cards are called Minor Arcana) and in addition there are 22 special cards that they call the Major Arcana cards.
Poo: Tell me about the four Kings.
GiGi: Each King usually represents a mature male figure in your life and each one has a special trait as follows:

King of Cups - Family
King of Wands - Power
King of Coins -  Success
King of Swords - The Conscience

Poo, study the four Kings pictured in these cards. Now tell me what comes into your mind when you look at each one. They are all Kings but see how each one brings you different feelings. This is a very basic method of learning how to study Tarot cards.

GiGi: Poo on your next visit we will review the four Queens!

Let's make a Gnome and Mushroom doll! - Here is a picture of a very simple gnome doll holding a mushroom that is featured in the Gnomes Book of Christmas Crafts by Carol Sterbenz. This simple doll pattern can be proportionately increased to make larger gnomes!

If you would like the pattern and instructions email QueenGnome@foundus.com

I had a lot of fun creating a Beryl-the-Gnome soft doll using the basic pattern above - with a couple of feminine changes. I made 3 noses... I even painted a belly button (she managed to slip out on me last night and have her belly button pierced with a little gold ring! Oh, what will her parents think?  I was even able to capture this little gnome's unique smile.

I have not told Bill and Lynette that I did this so it is to be a surprise.  Just my way of saying thanks to our UK friends for jumping in and helping us with the club.

DADDY'S HANDS
"Walk a little slower, Daddy"
Said a little child so small.
"I'm following in your footsteps,
And I don't want to fall.

Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they're hard to see;
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For you are leading me.

Someday when I'm all grown up,
You're what I want to be;
Then I will have a little child
Who'll want to follow me.

And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true;
So, walk a little slower, Daddy,
For I must follow you."

Gnome Health -
Make Room for Mushrooms  -
What is copper? Why a mineral of course!

Making room on your plate for mushrooms will add an extra bit of bone-friendly copper to your diet. Copper, a mineral, is necessary (along with iron) for the formation of haemoglobin. It also helps keep bones, blood vessels, and nerves healthy. Although mushrooms are not a nutritional powerhouse compared to other kinds of produce, a cup of cooked Mushrooms Edible.jpg (116333 bytes)mushrooms does contain almost a milligram of copper, a trace mineral that may play a role in guarding against osteoporosis. There is no recommended daily intake for copper, but 1.5 to 3 milligrams per day is a good goal for humans and due to gnome metabolism we too require the correct amount of copper.

Did you know that 1/2 cup of cooked mushrooms contains more copper than 1/2 cup of mushrooms served raw. Why, because a serving of cooked mushrooms weighs more.
Do you know how to prepare mushrooms to retain copper?

Copper can be lost in cooking even under the best conditions. To retain copper cook mushrooms in a minimal amount of water and for the shortest possible time.

Raven_Gnome_4.jpg (76651 bytes)Raven Gnome, she lives alone is a forest assisting lost Gnomes and hurt animals.  'Raven is a young forest gnome  with beautiful
long dark hair. When she is not rescuing gnomes she weaves nests for squirrels...wild life from feathers and straw. she lives alone but no one knows exactly WHERE. Her family was lost to her when she was a baby and the animals sheltered her in the forest, a sad part of the forest where gnomes no longer exist because humans had overrun it. Occasionally a wandering gnome will stumble across this part of the forest and it is Ravens job to lead them back to safety. yet she will not return to the gnomes because she has her duty to perform.'  Raven Loves the work of Tom Clark and in her spare time she is going to do write ups for us about his work. (It's said she met him once while he was visiting her forest).

It was mid spring and time for gathering mushrooms, as this is when they are ripe, Raven summoned her "carriage" Reddy the squirrel, packed a light lunch of acorns and berries, and headed off to a deep part of the wood. As the sunlight was pouring through the trees, she was able to see something...unusual in the mushroom patch. As Raven slowly approached a rather large mushroom, she was amused to see...a fellow gnome with a big grin on his face snoozing; supported and shaded from the sun by the mushroom. "Ah-hem..." began Raven...the gnomes eyes popped open. "Ah, I was hoping someone gathering mushrooms here would stumble across me. I was out gathering my own mushrooms and had a bit of dandelion wine to wash down the mushrooms. I fear I drank a bit much and rambled to this part of the forest...where am I?" "You are in the ‘Human Wood’" replied Raven, "and it is not safe for inexperienced...and, um drunken gnomes. I will send you home on Reddy; you will be safe with him. You may join me in gathering mushroom first and we will have a light picnic - I want to make sure the wine has worn off before I send you home." "Are you from around here?" "Where do you live?" Smiley the gnome asked. Raven’s response was a smile of her own. They spent a wonderful afternoon together and then Reddy carried Smiley home.

Until the next adventure...Raven the Gnome Rescuer

Notes from friends:

We have a 16 year old neighbor that was paralyzed from the neck down 2 months ago and we are having a silent auction/dinner fundraiser for her a week from this Friday.
I have 21 Tom Clark Gnomes ranging from 1984 to 1990 that I want to donate, but I need a value for the auction. I have tried several collectible stores and many large and small book stores but to no avail I can't find anyone who could tell me any values for these. Could you please help?
Thank You,

Gnomes from many countries participated this year.
 QueenGnome Castle1.jpg (67739 bytes)
In the old tradition, the Gnomes gathered and enjoyed sharing stories for the day preceding the Council Meeting. The council met in the round room at the castle of Queen Gnome. Their ancient crystal was laid reverently, upon the great oak-plank table, to record the meeting. A candle was lit and soothing incense permeated the room.

Opening Prayers
QueenGnome, opened the meeting with prayers for all our members.

Bulletin Board

At the end of a shaded path stands the small round home of Whimsy and Willie Woodworker and their families. These two very talented carpenter gnome brothers are responsible for turning out much of the woodcraft for the wee folk of the Boubliwae Forest.

In addition to creating custom crafted items, for sale at the Forest Emporium Shoppe, they also repair wooden items.

Here is a rare photo of what a gnome woodworking shop looks like.

Permission to print this picture was graciously granted to us
by LeeValley www.leevalley.com

This 1:5 scale fully functional carpenter's workshop was made by Brigitte Johnson of Sonora, California. The tools shown were either made by her or purchased from Zanella, a German company specializing in miniatures.

Don’t miss the June issue of the Gnome News because a very special piece will be featured by the Forest Emporium Shoppe.
