Now for our lesson about the Gnome Tarot,
I present Madam Gemini and her companion Poo
Poo consults Madam Gemini, whom she calls GiGi
Madam GiGi and Poo discuss TAURUS

GiGi: Well Poo, we have reviewed all the signs of the Zodiac except Taurus ,the sign of the Bull, who is ruled by the planet Venus.

Poo: What characteristics would a person born under this sign have GiGi?

GiGi: This is often referred to as the 'B' sign - Bull, Bravery, Bluntness and Brilliance, while Beauty is often a feminine feature of this sign.

Poo: Wow, I bet those born under this sign would make good rulers.

GiGi: That's right Poo, especially since they are usually practical, powerful individuals who gather facts and remember them, being always eager to put such knowledge into use. Some are often overwhelming in nature while others are more staunch and steadfast. Still excellent ruler traits. But they can be stubborn...however this is not always a bad trait.

Poo: I heard that those born under the sign of Taurus are ruled by the planet Venus so this would mean that they are also very affectionate. What do you think of this GiGi?

GiGi: This is true Poo. Now, I must tell you about the stable gnome Che who had the job of looking after a very large black Toro. They indulged in head to head disagreements especially when Venus was around!

Well folks this brings to a close our Astrology features.
Sure hope you enjoyed them.
GiGi & Poo

Poo can be seen in her full beauty at www.bobbiesfaeriehugs.com/Poo.htm

About Earth Day

Earth Day began on April 22, 1970 and has been an important day ever since.  It's a day to reflect on our planet, our environment and what we can do to help keep them healthy.

From the beginning, children and schools were approached to support the formation and continuation of this special day.  And this makes sense!  Children have the most important stake in keeping our planet healthy.  They'll still be the caretakers long after their parents and grandparents have passed away.

THERE IS A RIEN POORTVLIET MUSEUM in Middelharnis, Netherlands. The Dutch word for “Gnomes” is “Kabouter.”

THERE IS A GNOME VILLAGE in northern Sweden (Mora) called “Tomteland” - with a display that’s hard to put into words. It has little houses, shops, and a school, all filled with Gnomes. The Swedish word for Gnome is “Tomte” -pronounced “tomb-teh” as in “tomb” with a sound of “teh” on the end like the “Te” in “Tetley” tea.

IN KALMAR, SWEDEN'S KALMAR LANS MUSEUM there is a wonderful display of Gnomes and Gnome pictures done by Sweden’s famous Gnome illustrator, Jenny Nystrom.

FEATURE ARTIST:   Craig Knox, wood carver

Nature Spirit - Forest Gnome Carving

Our FOREST GNOMES follow an ancient European folk art combining the work of the human hand with that of nature. Wood is gathered in the mountains at about 7000 feet. Each piece is the branch base (pine knot) of Jeffery Pine, which is removed from the decayed trunk. The branch bases will outlast the trunk wood by decades and are remarkably solid and dense.

After gathering the wood, the artist (Craig Knox) cleans and planes each piece. The forest spirit is then ready to be revealed. Using both dremel tools and hand chisels the task of carving the gnome that best “fits” the particular piece of wood is undertaken. The artist generally must “see” who is in the wood before he can begin. The finished piece is then drilled, labeled, signed on the back and, finally, sealed with exterior polyurethane.

Forest Gnomes have been made for centuries in Europe, some being handed down from generation to generation. It is believed these forest spirits guard anything with wood in it (your home), warding off evil spirits and bringing good luck.

LAUGHTER REDUCES STRESS!! hehehe

Gnome research has credited laughter with not only the power to reduce stress levels, but also the ability to relieve pain, improve immunity, and reduce blood pressure. So gnomes enjoy age-reducing belly laughs. This is one of their secrets for longevity.

Raven Gnome 4.jpg (76651 bytes)Raven Gnome, she lives alone is a forest assisting lost Gnomes and hurt animals.
'Raven is a young forest gnome with beautiful long dark hair. When she is not rescuing gnomes she weaves nests for squirrels...wild life from feathers and straw. she lives alone but no one knows exactly WHERE. Her family was lost to her when she was a baby and the animals sheltered her in the forest, a sad part of the forest where gnomes no longer exist because humans had overrun it. Occasionally a wandering gnome will stumble across this part of the forest and it is Ravens job to lead them back to safety. yet she will not return to the gnomes because she has her duty to perform.'  Raven Loves the work of Tom Clark and in her spare time she is going to do write ups for us about his work. (It's said she met him once while he was visiting her forest).

 Book Reviews:

THE VOYAGE OF THE POPPYKETTLE by Robert Ingpen, 1987 Hill of Content Publishing Co., Australia ISBN No. unknown. Another publisher: Limpsfeld: Paper Tiger, 1987, Hard Cover ISBN: 1850280541. This book has approximately 48 pages.

They came from Peru. They were a family of Gnomes called Hairy Peruvians. They lived by fishing for anchovies in the great Pacific Ocean. But when the Shining Spaniards came and plundered their land, they decided to seek another home across the sea. But how could they make the long voyage? Their little boats were too frail, and they had no way to build anything stronger. The Lazy Pelican showed them the way. They brought the Poppykettle down from the high Andes, rigged her out as a ship, and set off across the great ocean. This book tells of all their adventures before they found the new country. Beautifully illustrated in full colour and black and white throughout.

Robert Ingpen has illustrated and written many books. For his illustrations in the field of children's literature he was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1986 (reproduced on the cover of this book).

There are a number of copies of this book available from used book stores. Visit www.addall.com and search under used books.

Notes from friends:

hello  I am writing in reference to your response to my original inquiry. first of all, thank you for giving it the time and attention that you did. your thoughts were interesting, so I followed that tangent as best I could.  the information i found leads me to the conclusion that the Cornish piskies would not partake in the shenanigans I had previously spoken about.  I am lead to believe that the piskies' punishment is quite harsh, as are their pranks I've read about.  i was wondering if you could provide further speculations and opinions on the topic.  since the deadline for my paper is nearing I also wondered if you had any sources available for me to contact.  I had totally forgotten to ask if you would like to receive a copy of the completed research paper.  I'm sure that, at the very least, it will entertain you. as before, I appreciate any assistance you could offer and thank you in advance for you time.
best wishes,  Scott stein

ANSWER:

Greetings Scott,

At a special meeting of the great Council of Gnomes, their views on the strange occurrences reported by you were discussed.

The great Wizard Gnome, Crocus, thinks that perhaps there is a group of young gnomes, who have taken it upon themselves to cause a bit of mischief. Misguided mischief I must say. His solution is to provide them with more studies in herbology!

The well respected Gnome Enchantress, LadyIndigo thought that perhaps as winter comes to a close, and spring soon to arrive, some young gnombies have become slightly bored. She reminds us that all gnomes are companions of all nature and when young gnombies are unable to get out and about to assist mother nature, some of them may have taken it upon themselves to participate in the kind of activities you have brought to our attention. The Enchantress went on to inform all present that Gnombies have exceptionally kind natures, and if some are participating in such behaviour, it was most likely done in jest. Perhaps, in their young minds, they believed they were bringing laughter into the household.

In my reign as QueenGnome never have I had  to deal with a mean gnombie. Now, there have been a few gnomes who have resorted to unusual behaviour due to imbibing in too much rumjum. Perhaps this could account for the strange occurrences. But, again I stress, it would have been done in jest and only meant to lift household spirits. Judge Klaus indicated that he would look into this matter more closely. [Queen's Note: Socks make excellent bedrolls for gnomes and so when one sock goes missing I am inclined to think that this is a definite possibility.]

Firebrand (who is a blacksmith by trade) the Field Marshal for the clan of gnomes living in Woodland, felt it may be possible that some adolescent gnombies (enlisted as Gnome Knights-in-Training) in an attempt to impress some lovely gnomettes are doing these things, so that they have something to brag about, in order to gain favour? Firebrand informed the great Council of Gnomes that he would commence an immediate investigation.

In conclusion, I must inform you that we have not been able to conclude that gnomes are responsible. On behalf of the great Council of Gnomes and myself, QueenGnome Lyara we thank you for contacting us.

Respectfully Yours

Dear All,

If you've ever been keen about The Lord of the Rings then I can soon put a stop to that. My very own version of the whole work, together with a brand new unpublished sequel, is now up at www.beryl-the-gnome.co.uk  The story's my usual rubbish of course, but the graphics are quite pretty even though they take a little while to load first time. Please have a look and if you like it, please tell all your friends!

Best wishes to you all, Beryl

Hi, Queen! It's Ozy!
I hope you had a super week and have a great week end ahead of you.
I had my hubby work the computer so I could send a few pictures of Apple our Therapy donkey at work.

One picture has Apple in the Retirement Center with an elderly lady in a wheel chair. Another picture has Apple in the Hospital at the ICU level. Third floor up.  Apple does NOT like elevators!  But when we entered the young fellows' room, he was in fetal position, so sick, upon him eyeing Apple, he had a few moments of pleasure as you can tell, so the elevator work  was worth it. The third picture is of my hubby, Paul, Apple and myself...Just before the elevator ride D-O-W-N! Remember, he doesn't like elevators. Come to think of it...I'm sure the elevators know that, as the door closes way toooo fast on us, on purpose...I'm sure!  We can't move our...(hut humm) donkey fast enough!    Hugs! Ozy

Lil'Owl's Boubliwae Adventures
Chapter 7
Old Jack-Rabbit meets Crysta

***
I hope that you enjoyed Chapter 7
Come back next month to the world of Lil'Owl's Boubliwae Adventures.

I

A ROYAL ANNOUNCEMENT
The Spring Party

Ah, the Spring Party! No Boubliwae Falls forest folk will want to miss it. After all it only comes once a year! All the forest animals were invited. Black Rat from Woodland will once again be conducting "The Bumblebee, Cricket and Grasshopper Orchestra". And there will be the usual barrels full of raspberry syrup and Rumjum to dip into.

Will any residents of Boubliwae miss the party?
Not a chance!

The forest creatures are encouraged to join in the fun. Lil' Owl is the master of the Spring Leaping-Up Day ceremony, along with Freddy Frog who moved into the Boubliwae stream last spring. Together they will explain the festivities to the new residents of the Boubliwae forest.

"Listen, the band has started to play the Pancake Song; let the dancing begin" shouted Lil'l Owl. "What's a pancake got to do with the party?" you ask. Well, no one knows. It's just a tradition; gnomes always start their parties with pancakes."

Busy bumble bees and yellow jacket wasps are spreading the news throughout the tiny gnome villages, within the great forest, that Spring will soon arrive. They buzz melodies from tiny horns, flutes and tubas so all the inhabitants are informed that the Spring Party has begun.

Gnomes and forest animals are gathering at the picnic site. Gnomettes brought all kinds of tasty dishes. Gnombies are busy setting long wooden tables with serving dishes. And pancakes by the dozen are being flipped by Lil' Owl and Freddy Frog.

Old Jack Rabbit was dancing the hippity-hoppity with a beautiful new resident of Boubliwae, Miss Sniffy. "Oh, thank you for dancing with me, Jack Rabbit. You really are a most graceful dancer!" Ah, perhaps romance is in the air.

Sarah poured the raspberry drink and Eric served pancakes amid the great hustle, bustle and chattering. Perhaps more than just tree buds are blossoming! These two shall soon be wed.

Warm sunlight penetrates the budding branches of the trees and dances upon the table tops. Spring flowers adorned the tables and many young gnomettes had them entwined into their lovely tresses.

May the arrival of Spring,
bring you the joy of Mother Nature,
in these troubled times.

Respectfully yours
