Professor S.E.M. presents:

Crystals and Gems

Greetings my friends! As most of you know my name is Professor Stone E. Mountain, but please call me Professor SEM.   Each month I am delighted to
bring you information of stones, crystals and gems from the gnome’s “Secret Book of Life”. Today we are going to learn about the agate.

I am the Gnome Enchantress of plant life. This month we learn about the plant:

Bright blessings!  Once again, I can’t tell you how delighted I am by your interest in something I find so incredibly intriguing.  My love of herbs, plants and flowers has always been.  My mother and her mothers before her, are considered to be the specialist in this field, a tradition I plan to carry on to my children and to my children's children.

This month we are going to discuss the pot marigold.  You may think the pot marigold is a flower, well it is, but it is also an herb.

Now for our lesson about the Gnome Tarot,
I present Madam Gemini and her companion Poo
GiGi: Poo, although barely rising above the ground, we Gnomes possess profound wisdom. But sometimes we use the Tarot cards to enlighten our minds. They are used as a tool to help us set aside time to think about what is happening to us.

Poo: Thanks GiGi. As a beginner what should I know about the Tarot?

GiGi: First Poo, the word is pronounced Ta-row, the last "T" is silent.

Poo: I visited the Forest Emporium Shoppe and they had several different sets available. I found it difficult to choose. They were all so beautifully illustrated.

GiGi: The basic meanings of each card are much the same Poo; for your first deck I suggest you choose one with imagery and symbolism that appeal to you. This will encourage you to develop your own interpretations of each card.

Poo: GiGi I think I would like you to teach me about your deck, Tarot of the Gnomes, then I am going to go and visit with Mystic Rowan Fae to learn about the Faerie Oracle.

GiGi: I think Poo that someday you are going to become a wonderful teacher yourself. Perhaps we should consult the cards!

Poo: Ok. But, GiGi, does it matter what philosophical or religious views wee folk have in order to understand Tarot cards?

GiGi: No Poo. Remember these are only a tool to encourage you to think!

Poo: Wonderful...let's consult the cards.

The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals.   Please tell ten friends to tell ten today!

It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on "feed an animal in need" for free.

This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use  the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising.

Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know.

Gnome Health & Gnome Cuisine

Quercetin is a flavonoid credited with guarding against cardiovascular disease. Although onions are the best food source of quercetin, you also can get it from berries. Cranberries, raspberries, and blackberries are all good sources of quercetin. Since gnomes are known to have extra large hearts it is important for them to keep their hearts pumping well.

Gnomes consume lots of berries. Gnomettes gather them during the summer months and spread them out on beautifully embroidered cloths to dry in the warm sun. The dried berries are then stored in their larders for winter use. When there is an abundant crop of certain berries gnomes will crush these berries in large wooden tubs for making juice and wines. Young boys are taught how to make kegs and prepare the kegs for preserving these juices and wines. If the gnome clan is a large one they will often have a special storage place for storing these precious liquids very similar to a human winery.

Raven_Gnome_4.jpg (76651 bytes)Raven Gnome, she lives alone is a forest assisting lost Gnomes and hurt animals.  'Raven is a young forest gnome  with beautiful
long dark hair. When she is not rescuing gnomes she weaves nests for squirrels...wild life from feathers and straw. she lives alone but no one knows exactly WHERE. Her family was lost to her when she was a baby and the animals sheltered her in the forest, a sad part of the forest where gnomes no longer exist because humans had overrun it. Occasionally a wandering gnome will stumble across this part of the forest and it is Ravens job to lead them back to safety. yet she will not return to the gnomes because she has her duty to perform.'  Raven Loves the work of Tom Clark and in her spare time she is going to do write ups for us about his work. (It's said she met him once while he was visiting her forest).

What a surprise for Raven, to be strolling along the stream looking for stones, to spot Faerie Queen Marafae's charge, a gnome named Donnie! He was looking for berries for his sick Marafae, and some flowers to cheer her up. Donnie wandered and wandered, looking for the perfect bunch, eventually wandering right off his trail into Raven's woods!! Raven led him to her secret garden. She and Donnie exchanged news; Raven is well acquainted with the Faerie Queen. They spent a pleasant afternoon gathering flowers and berries for Marafae. At the end of the day, Raven sent Donnie home with a pack of goods, including some treats for himself, to thank him for always looking out for gnome and fae. Raven also provided Donnie with a detailed map to get him home. Of course, as soon as he arrived home, the map mysteriously disappeared...

UNTIL NEXT MONTH RAVEN BIDS YOU FAREWELL AND HAPPY SPRING!!!

DONNIE - Donnie's friends have sent him this present in appreciation for his being such a good neighbor. He is always willing to help when they need something. Not least among the many favors Donnie has offered is dog-walking. How can you thank the friend who takes care of your pets while you're away from home? If they are like the Donnie who takes care of my dogs, they are content with a "thank-you." This present is, in fact, "Best Friends" by Tim Wolfe and Tom Clark. And although Donnie did not ask for money, there is an Irish coin on the base depicting a dog. If it's a lucky coin, then maybe Donnie will feed the dogs again sometime Approximate height is 7 inches.

Available from T&L for $50.00

Did you know?:
To Ozy and Apple,
Loyal Subjects of QueenGnome Lyara

I am writing in response to your written inquiry about the residence of QueenGnome when she is staying at the House of Oz in Tucson, Arizona.

When residing in Tucson, QueenGnome is housed in a hacienda that is not too different from the local inhabitants...it would simply be larger and have a square courtyard filled with desert flowers, cacti and other succulents; and Mexican clay pots overflowing with healing herbs.

Typical desert colors cover the home coupled with bright native accents. Woven Navaho blankets drape the bed and rugs cover the earthen floors.

QueenGnome enjoys warmth. Her toes are very sensitive. So, you will find that she keeps several small boxes (big enough to sink her two feet into) filled with a mix of sun warmed desert sand and dried herbs located in the courtyard where they can be moved around the four walls avoiding shade caused by the rising and setting of the sun. Also, here in this location, fresh and dried herbs are in abundance and easily mixed into these sand-filled footwarmers.

A fountain would be at the centre of the courtyard so that the sound of the water would reach out to all wee folk visiting the hacienda.

QueenGnome enjoys the sound of the flute. There is always soothing music floating in the air  both during daylight hours and by candle and lamplight at night.

As always your humble servant,
and Chief Travel Courtier of QueenGnome,
Nunky Nicebottom.

Notes from friends:
Subject: Re: Royal Announcement - Forest Emporium Shoppe - Grand Opening!

This gnome loves to shop.  Maybe there's a goldsmith working in the back that buys gold from the treasury and fashions it into delightful jewelry. maybe the goldsmith uses old Irish designs in handmade chains.  I can hardly wait for this shop to open to see if I can buy gold jewelry.

I would also like some new clothes, and not the jeans that I've been wearing, I want something fancy.  I'm so excited!!!
Appleseed.

response:

Good Day Appleseed, (YAWN, we changed our clocks and I missed an hour of sleep!)

Within the little pot-bellied homes live many gnome artisans - and you will be meeting some of them. There are gnomes crafting items from many precious metals, including gold and silver with inlaid gem stones (certified by Professor S.E.M.)...certain to interest you.

Celtic design! Gnomes love challenges and I am certain that you will discover something unique. And, our Shoppe designer is working on fancy fashion items that gnomes will treasure and desire. And I am certain that the Shoppe will also be frequented by our friends from the fairy realm.

This will be a new feature for our monthly WWGA News. There will be an advertisement for something special from the Shoppe each month. You will be able to clip them out and save them in your very own "Inchabout Memory Book" (human catalogue) for nostelgia. So, cut out that picture of the Forest Emporium Shoppe and create a cover! Then gather up your fairy dust and gem stones and get ready to shop!

A ROYAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Royal Announcement

Grand Opening of the
Forest Emporium Shoppe

At the end of a footpath beside the woods, that ran along the shore of a gurgling stream to the drowsy waters of the Boubliwae Pool, was a rock wall.fes-ad-may-03(2).gif (159807 bytes)

On the side of the wall at the end of this path the rock was cracked. Through this split, or fissure in the rock, gnomes and other wee folk would disappear. The opening led into a cavern housing the gnome treasury. The Chief Gnome Treasurer would weigh and record fairy dust and precious gnome stones being deposited or withdrawn from the great treasury.

The journey through the cavern was short. So short, that light filters in from the only two entrances illuminating the cave in dappled dancing sunbeams. The cavern opens up into a circular clearing. Here gnomes and other forest folk would meet to trade and market goods, or simply enjoy visiting one another.

Little pot-bellied cottages with thatched and cedar shake roofs surround the glade creating the little village of Inchabout. On the far side of the clearing is a majestic old willow tree which houses the Forest Emporium Shoppe.

The Forest Emporium Shoppe has several levels. Here wee folk can find elegant clothing, tools, kitchen utensils, household goods, and rare items all crafted in the tiny village or obtained from Inchabout traders.

Watch for something special from the Forest Emporium Shoppe in your next edition of the WWGA News!
