Below a note from someone who loved Matt in reference to his Creed
Just wanted you to know, I passed this on to just about everyone I know. You're Son is getting rave reviews as a human being and extremely unsightly for a man of his young years. You and Bob should be quite proud that Matt turned into this wonderful man.  He's touched a lot of people even after he is gone.  His mission on earth was complete.
 Love, Marty

Words from Aunt Jani
Matt was my first nephew, I adored him the moment I saw him. He was so cute and always
saying things that cracked me up.  Once while visiting he was playing in the backyard with his
dog Chester, Chester bite into Matt's ball and deflated it,  next thing
Matt comes running into the house with the flattened ball on his head,  he calls out  "I got a
ball head".  We both broke up.

Another time when he was about 7 years old, we went to the zoo, the Houston zoo back then
was in bad shape and unfortunately we came across a dead animal.  Matt was horrified and
became very upset over it, so we found a place to sit and I tried to explain that it cost
lots of money to pay employees to keep the zoo up and the animals in good shape.
Matt seemed to think they shouldn't be allowed to run it if animals died;  I agreed but
had no solution for him.  That's when he asked if I could take him to the
zoo office, he dug out every penny, nickel and dime he had in his pockets, and counted a
a total of .51 cents.  He wanted to give it all to the zoo caretakers to help care for
the animals.  So, we found the office and he took the money to the people inside
as he told them about the dead animal we saw.  They thanked him but otherwise
didn't say a word.  It wasn't long after that I read in the paper how they were
going to start charging a small amount per person but still free on holidays, this was to help
take care of the animals and better their environment.  I'd like to think Matt's
words helped make the difference.

Note from Tina

Nice tribute, Jan.  You are so good at these things.

Matt was sitting with Bob and I at a table at a restaurant.  Sean was about 13 months and had toddled over to the jute box as we watched.  Sean was trying to see the pretty colors on the machine when some kids’ about 5 or 6 came up to the jute box and said something mean to Sean.  Matt immediately got up, walked over to Sean and gently took him by the hand and led him back to the table.  Matt looked at me and said," People act like they feel inside, don't they" He then said, "Those boys must really be sad inside if they have to be mean to Sean."  I have used that incredibly wise and mature statement many times and will continue to reflect upon it to remember to be patient with others when they say "mean" things.  Because, People usually DO act like they feel inside!

That was Matt's most profound insight.

Thank you, Sis. T
