- I called but Aunt Mary was napping, Bill was distraught,
Sarah was coping....I had to do something.....so I attempt to put into words how precious
my Uncle Don was....this wonderful man who recently celebrated his birthday, was killed in
an accident while checking on his cattle. I was told he died immediately, I was told it
was a blessing.....one part of me understands....one part of me wants to scream out
"why"!

Donald Naegeli grew up in
Jackson Hole, Wyoming. As a young man his heart was stolen by an adorable, feisty gal
named Mary.. ..it was off to Montana where together they
bought and worked their cattle ranch. Two children were born, Bill, who lives with his wife and family on the ranch, and Shirley,
who was killed by a drunk driver in the summer of 1985,
- a part of Uncle Don died with her.

- Donald was very active in The Grange as well as the Tree
Farmers of America. Although, he had worked at Vinson Timber, his primary job was working
the ranch. He was also responsible for keeping and maintaining the cemetery where Shirley
was buried.
- Donald was respected and loved by all who knew him. He
worked hard and loved and adored his family. He was as good a man as you could know, and
he will be sorely missed by us all.

- I remember so many times spent with Uncle Don.....for
every summer of my childhood I looked forward to going to Montana with a passion. Montana
and the family there hold a precious place in my heart. Today when my Mother called to
tell me the news that Uncle Don had died ...my world stopped short. For I thought it meant
I would never hear his laughter again...or see his smile....or get one of his famous bear
hugs. I cried a heartfelt cry with my husband standing close by, for he knew how much my
uncle meant to me..
.for my youngest child is named
Donald in his honor. I want to be in Montana right now..., I want so much to share with my
Aunt Mary, and cousins at this sad time. But it isn't possible, not now, maybe later....so
I write this tribute in loving memory, for one of the kindest, gentlest, loving men I've
ever known.

- You were always my hero Uncle Don.....I love you.......
