Brian Froud was born in Winchester England, and went to college at Maidstone College of Art. His drawings and paintings of faeries, goblins, ogres, giants, dwarfs and other enchanted creatures in forest and medieval settings have graced the cover of many books. He also designed the creatures for the Jim Henson film The Dark Crystal, 1983, and influenced the creatures in Henson's film Labyrinth, 1986.
